I was inspired to pick my camera back up creatively again after I survived a Sudden Cardiac Arrest and time in a coma in 2012.  Part of the recovery process led me to express myself through art again.  It's common after a near death experience for your senses to be heightened.  Several of mine were - colors were bolder and brighter, and the only way I could think of capturing the beauty was with my camera. 

My parents had given me a 35mm Nikon when I was in 8th grade and I wore that camera out. 

Different times in my life I have used a camera to capture times of importance in our family's lives and to document the changes, as all of us do.   I had not really been creative with it since college. 

A year after the Sudden Cardiac Arrest, my husband dropped me off at the airport for my first photography trip of a lifetime.  I spent ten days exploring Iceland and that kicked off an urge to travel and photograph as much as I could before I couldn't.  I want to have stories to share with  my grandchildren someday - stories that they might not believe are true, but are.  I became a travel photographer. 

Photography has always been a part of my life, from waiting with anticipation for the roll of film to come back from the developer, to watching the print develop in the darkroom, and now the instant gratification on the back of the camera.  And then knowing what I can do with it once I have it on the computer screen.  

I have done a variety of photography through my traveling and am excited to have photos with stories to share with you.
